What this is, why it exists, how it works, and who is behind it.
LMKFR reads your own Instagram data export, on your own device. It is a local-first analyzer for the “Download your information” archive you request from Meta: drop the ZIP into the browser and every count and chart is computed there. In local mode nothing is uploaded — no account, no server-side copy. The Features page lists every room in the app.
An export is the only complete copy of your own history you hold, and reading it should not require handing it to anyone. LMKFR is an independent, one-person-scale project built on that refusal: the archive stays in your browser and the tool answers to you. The back story is on the Lore page.
LMKFR is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Instagram or Meta. It is not a data business either: no advertising, no sale or sharing of personal data, no third-party trackers, and nothing from your archive is used to train anything. Privacy states exactly what is stored; the Security page states what leaves your device.
Every figure is deterministic local math over your archive: the same input always produces the same output, and the method is written down rather than learned. There is no AI or LLM anywhere in the product — Ask Me Anything retrieves matches from your own words, it does not generate them. Blog posts are written by the project team. The FAQ documents the counting rules, the formats, and the limits of any export. The Research page publishes what the archive’s structure looks like — folder names and field names only, read from sixteen archives without opening a single value.
LMKFR is an independent project, not (yet) a company: no investors, no advertising, and no data-broker model. The optional sync layer — restoring your settings and aggregate numbers on a second device — is off-by-default and switched on by you. Shipped work is dated on the Changelog.
The source is available to read, audit and run under PolyForm Strict 1.0.0 — noncommercial use and verification are permitted, redistribution and modification are not. The terms sit with the legal text on the Terms page.
Security reports, privacy questions and anything about accountability reach the project at security@lmkfr.com — where disclosure lands and the project answers for its own conduct.
